First Time Festival - First Timer Itinerary Ideas!

Are you coming to the Lakes International Comic Art Festival for the first time? We have some schedule ideas for anyone new to our annual event in Bowness-on-Windermere!

This First Timers Itinerary may help you navigate your way around our annual event now you have blought your tickets. (You have bought your tickets, right?)

We hope this gives you an idea about many of the things we're putting on, and gives you a steer to make the most of your Festival visit!

Comics Marketplace - 10am – 11am at the Glebe Tennis Courts 

Head to The Glebe where you will find our free Comic Marketplace on the tennis courts. Browse dozens of tables from creators, publisher and shops. Chat to comic creators and find out more about their work. 

Dickie Geocaching – 11am – 12pm  at Windermere Jetty Museum 

While at the Glebe, head to our visitor info centre at the TIC where you will ˜ınd the start of our Dickie Geocaching course – like a digital treasure hunt -Centre, approximately 45 minutes waking with free stickers from the TIC if completed. 

Comic Art Trail – 12pm – 1pm ish 

Find awesome artwork and freshly painted murals in shop windows and on walls around town. For more details see the programme and maps. 

Lunch (Dinner if you are Northern) – 12.30pm – 1pm ish 

Grab some lunch while you are heading around town to looking at the windows and murals… 

Doctor Who Exhibition, Enter The Mulberry Tree and Fly Free: Palestinian Comics Revealed – 1.30pm – 4pm ish at Windermere Jetty Museum 

Take a walk down to the Windermere Jetty Museum to see our Doctor Who Exhibition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who comic. Have a look at comics featuring every major Doctor, plus the first ever Doctor Who strip from 1964. Plus, there will be some newly designed monsters! But watch out for Daleks!

Have a look, too, at the "Enter the Mulberry Tree and Fly Free" exhibition, featuring work created by Palestinian artists as part of our continuing focus on comics from the Arab world. Now you have had your eyes opened to the world of comics, you might want to head back to the Comic Marketplace again…

 

Doctor Who Event – 4pm – 5pm, Old Laundry Theatre

Be part of the creation of a special Doctor Who comic strip using the winning monster from our Festival monster challenge competition! Watch as panels are drawn and the story is created with the help of the audience.
