Just part of the fun around the Lakes International Comic Art Festival 2023 is a geocache challenge, “The Quest for the Windermere Ghost”!
To play, start your challenge from Bowness-on-Windermere Tourist Information. Then, using your mobile device, head over to pyts.link and enter the game code KIXG to start!
Years ago, a ghost haunted Windermere. Very little is known about the ghost, and he has not been seen for a decade. Local farmer Dickie thinks this is a shame. Can you help him and find out what happened?
With this quest, you will collect the puzzle pieces that will reveal the mystery of the lost ghost.
During this quest, you have to complete several tasks, such as:
- Discover your route
- Solve puzzles
- Take pictures
You'll get jigsaw pieces as reward and at the final station you'll have te create the jigsaw with those pieces.
What to bring/wear:
- your phone
- a bit of courage
We'd also advise you to take a waterproof coat or umbrella; the weather changed quite quickly when we played this game and there are times where there is no shelter available if it's raining hard!

What is Geocaching?
For those unfamiliar, Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called geocaches or caches, at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. As of 2023, there are over three million active caches worldwide!
