Writer Simon Spurrier. is the focus of the latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast, and author who's written for a wide range of comics from 2000AD to Vertigo's Sandman - to one of hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates favourites, The Labyrinth.
He has also worked on TV scripts - which is one of the topics we discuss with him. Simon talks openly about being a writer and the challenges of putting your work out there.
Pete Taylor talks about his pitching experience which is a valuable insight into comic creators challenges, and Mike Williams starts a three-part series looking at the history of Dungeons and Dragons… and comics. This year's Festival will include an RPG style event so this fits perfectly with that. Plus, Tom Stewart reviews David Cooper's panel a day comic, The Price.
Ian and Nikki have a look at the new AKA Fanzine, Scotland’s longest running fanzine, and check out the recently-announced European guests coming to the Festival in October.
Please note there’s slight distortion to the sound in the first minute. It soon passes!
